This 18 carat gold pen comes in a limited edition of just 10 worldwide. It is the latest Magna by Onoto, and may have initials engraved on the barrel end. Available with fine, medium or broad nib, it is handcrafted in England and weighs approximately 80 grams. Price from £10,250.
A hallmarked sterling silver version is also available, price £1,025, and a gold plated sterling silver at £1,150, prices to include VAT , which would not apply outside the EU.
Onoto became internationally successful in 1905 when it introduced the first plunger-filler fountain pen guaranteed not to leak, and went on to become a collectors' pen.
It now makes a wide range of luxury writing instruments, and will accept special commissions for individual designs. One was for the 800th anniversary of the University of Cambridge in 2009.
