This is the style of bag that John Chapman will make on a bespoke service, designing it to the specific requirements of the individual customer, and making it in fabric the customer supplies or suggesting one from their own wide range.
This one is in a tweed, and customer's might match a bag with a tweed jacket or opt for a suiting material. It would need to be of a suitable weight, around 300gms, and a small sample may be sent to Chapman for advice.
Prices start from around £150 for the shoulder bags, luggage starting at around £200, and for other game bags and gun covers, etc, prices may be given on application.
Everything is made in the company's headquarters in the Lake District, by craftsmen and women. Each bag is cut by hand, using traditional methods, with the best leather and brass fittings. They are made to last. As with a Savile Row suit, customers sometimes return bags after many years' hard use for renewal or repair.
