• HOME GYM TO KEEP TRIM

A Savile Row tailor may well be able to improve a man’s figure, disguising the bad, improving the worst, but he can only do so much:  To taut that tum and trim that bum it is up to the individual. Sales of home gym equipment have risen dramatically over the past couple of years and one of the most popular lines is proving to be the G5 Home System from Life Systems.

This home gym apparatus comes in the shape of a compact system based upon Cable Motion technology, using a series of cables and pulleys to work and tone muscles.

“The beauty of the cable motion system, “ says Jeremy Navrady, marketing manager of Life Systems, “is that it works groups of muscles rather than isolating single muscles.”

Importantly, it has endless permutations of exercises, reducing the boredom factor that is a major reason for abandonment of exercise programmes.

The G5 sells at £1,995, with an instruction DVD.  Visit the www.lifefitness.com site for further details and stockists.

Male beauty salon opens near the Row

FURTHER proof, if it were needed, of the rise and rise of  the male cosmetics market comes with news of the opening this October of a Bond Street emporium entirely devoted to male grooming.

The WholeMan store, covering some 3,000 sq ft, is to provide not only a selection of all the best grooming products from around the world but also a section devoted to vitamins and supplements for men, and a first floor with treatment rooms.  Here , men can have a range of treatments designed especially for them, covering facials, massages and wet shaving.

Recent research by Mintel shows that the UK’s male grooming industry is set to grow to £812m by 2009.  To fill what chairman of WholeMan, Bob Ager, sees as a gap in the market, WholeMan is designed to be a one-stop shop offering everything in a purpose built environment, with trained staff on hand to give advice. For those who can’t make it to Bond Street, a complementary online site also launches in October, www.wholeman.co.uk, so that products may be ordered, advice sought, bookings made.

DESPITE dire warnings of skin damage from too much exposure to the sun, a tanned look continues to have appeal.  Latest product on the market to offer to provide the desired effect without any dangerous rays is the Heavenly Bodies Take Away Tan.  This solution is to be applied using  a soft Pashmina brush to sweep the cream over face and body, giving a ‘subtle sun-kissed look’ it is claimed.
Alternatively, at salons there is the Heavenly Bodies Superior Tanning treatment.  Both are fast and simple, and can give as light or as deep a tan as desired.  Contact Heavenly Bodies on 01121 7783676.
